Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Medical Assistant, you will assist and support the physician and other staff members by providing quality patient care with the admission of the patient to the clinical area, the collection of patient information and medical data in a confidential and organized manner, assistance with treatments, procedures, examinations and the referral of patients to specialists or ancillary care. You will also maintain medical supply inventory, stocking, and biohazard medical wastes management.
You will assist with patient care
You will perform laboratory testing
You will ensure quality of laboratory services
You will perform drug and alcohol screen collections according to company protocols for preplacement, random, reasonable cause, and post-accident situations
You will perform testing for physical exam protocols
You will maintain patient medical records
You will maintain the clinical area
Job Qualifications
Experience
6 months of experience in a medical setting
Education
High school graduate or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree in applicable medical field – preferred
Licenses and Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s HealthCare policy
Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certification required within 6 months of hire
Department of Transportation (DOT) Urine Drug Screen required within 6 months of hire
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Certified Pulmonary Function Testing Certification required within 18 months of hire
Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) required within 18 months of hire
Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in the state of Texas – preferred
